Building Resilience and Hope in Every Classroom

February 11–12, 2027, Kigali, Rwanda

In March 2026, the first Fun Learning Conference brought together more than 200 policymakers, researchers, and educators in Kigali. Young teacher students produced the Kigali Youth Declaration that reflected their hope for a shared commitment to bridging knowledge gaps, strengthening educator capacity, and advancing policy reform for joyful, child-centered learning across Africa.

Now we get to build on that foundation.

The 2027 Fun Learning Conference will focus on wellbeing, with resilience and hope as its guiding values. These are not soft ideas. They are research-grounded, teachable capacities, and this conference will bring together the evidence, the policy thinking, and the classroom practice needed to build them systematically, in every learning environment, not forgetting the timely discussions evolving around the use of AI in education.

For the first time, the conference will run two dedicated streams: one for early childhood educators, and one for early primary teachers, reflecting the growing understanding that the conditions children need to thrive don't stop at any single age, and that the transition between early years and primary school deserves its own attention.

As in 2026, the conference will bring together:

• Policymakers and researchers, working to ground education systems in evidence

• Educators, gaining practical, classroom-ready tools they can use immediately

• Global and local partners, from government agencies to universities to grassroots organizations, each contributing a piece of what it takes to build resilient, hopeful learning environments at scale
